Camping Pinar San José is located in the small rural village of Zahora, between the sea and the La Breña Mountains, nestling under a pine forest and well connected with the nearby villages of Vejer, Barbate and Conil, as well as the small villages of Los Caños de Meca, El Palmar and Zahara de los Atunes.
Along the coast there is a stretch of beach that runs for more than 13 kms. from Conil to Los Caños de Meca, which continues under the cliffs of Barbate (towering up to 100m high) with small nudist beach inlets, Hierbabuena Beach at the entrance to Barbate, and another expanse of coastline over 7 km long which extends to the small village of Zahara de los Atunes.
The scattering of low-roofed village houses, the opportunity to practise all kinds of water sports fishing, sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, surfing), the fine, white sands, the wide variety of beaches and the area’s privileged microclimate make this the perfect place to enjoy everything that the sea.
The proximity of La Breña Natural Park , a large fossilised sand dune covered with pine trees on a bed of Mediterranean retama and mastic shrubs and wild olive trees - is the best excuse to visit the area at any time of the year. The park is criss-crossed by a maze of forest paths that make it an ideal place for hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, wildlife spotting, colleting fungi and asparagus, visiting the watchtowers of La Meca and El Tajo, etc. In short, the perfect inland complement to this coastal area.
And if you’re happy to drive, pyou can visit the nearby inland villages (Vejer, Medina, Benalup, or explore the white villages along the ‘pueblos blancos’ route ...) or coastal villages (Conil, Barbate, Chiclana, Bolonia, Tarifa …). You can play golf at Montenmedio, Campano, Sancti Petri and Puerto Real, or visit the cities of Jerez, Cádiz and Gibraltar. All these trips are less than 1 hour’s drive.
